Time banks were created in Italy in the mid nineties and are now about 300 nationwide.

They help creating contacts between people that need to solve small problems of everyday life and those who instead offer their service. Indeed, in their spare time, registered members offer their knowledge and skills for free, just in order to help others. By doing so, they in turn gain credit in hours that can be invested at the moment they need something from another person.

Unlike to traditional banks, at time banks you do not pay any money, but put your time at someone's disposal. The services may include matters such as: languages, computer skills, crafts, home, health, animals, monitoring, support etc.
